JERROD, TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.
JLR

I do a bunch of different things. I am a photographer, so I take photos and I kind of script out everything. Iwrite everything in a journal. I create photo series that are all based on how I'm feeling essentially and it's all aself-portrait for the most part. Aside from photography, I am an interior landscapist–I design people’s homesthat are based on feng shui, so I source and curate plants and natural substances forpeople's homesbecause Ithink it’s really important to incorporate. I also model.

WHERE DOES YOUR STYLE INSPIRATION COME FROM?
JLR

A lot of my style just comes from my dad having the mentality of “I'm going to do whatever the fuck I want.” I am on that same wave, I'm just going to do whatever I want. I don’t really think about anything, I just go places and I see something that I like and then I think “Cool, this is what I want to wear, this is what I’m going to buy” and that’s really it. One consistent style I have is the idea of uniforms–I love suits and military clothing. I never went to a private school or anything like that, but I think that’s something that is really fun for me. I thinkmy style is subconsciously inspired by anime because I watch it so much. I definitely think that more inspiration should be pulled from video games or anime; I’m a huge fan of anime outfits and I think that it’s different from everything else we see every day in fashion.

HOW’D YOU GET INTO WEARING NAIL POLISH
JLR

It’s just a self-care thing. Usually, I’ll have the polish and would go get a manicure and have them do mynails for me. With everything else I’m doing, I would just get a manicure as a treat to myself. But now, with quarantine, I haven’t really been doing that much and I think I’m getting good at doing my own nails, but it’s never, obviously, what it’s like to get my nails done, but it’s just nice to do. It feels good.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE COLOR OF NAIL POLISH TO WEAR?
JLR

I think my favorite color is blue or grey, one of the two. I think they're really powerful colors in what they mean and what they cast on people's moods. Blue can be such a sad emotion, but it can also make you feel happy, reminding you of a blue sky. It has a lot of depth. The same applies to grey. I feel like grey usually has a more negative connotation, but I also feel like I’m the most productive when the sky is overcast. Outfits aren’t a reflection of my mood as much as polish is. I think that my outfits are a representation of my personality, whereas my polish is a reflection of my mood.
